A World Within Four Walls (Ist Prize)

Synopsis: world history has been packed with indidences of people with huge statures like” Siddiq Parveen ‘ Of Srirampur ,(west Bengal) History recognized the woman of 7,8” , elder daughter of a daily wage earner. Siddiq’s gigantic condition was noticed at the age of fifteen and oblivious parents hid her even from neighbors within the four walls for ten years. Her despair and squabble, although her resentment never forbade her from showering her unfulfilled maternal affection towards her nephew. Eventually, one day she was admitted to the district hopital after she fainted of “Acromegaly’ also termed as ‘Pituitary Macrodenoma’ she taken to state- capital but came back to their hamlet untreated. Her life remains a living curse and discomfiture, as a demon with her stooped back. She still
lives on the curse before she can either wear the veil of mirth or drop down the curtain on her life.

Synopsis:Rebellion Bejeweled’ is a documentary on the saga of grit, determination and integrity of Shri Manimanik Gogoi, who was once a leader of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), the dreaded armed outfit trying to secede from India. He chose to abandon the path of violence and embraced another path to realise the dream of a better society through community organization, drives for gainful employment of the youth and women and projects for amity among social groups. In all his effort the Administration and the Oil India Limited reposed total trust in him in implementing community welfare projects. All along, his USP has been an unwavering commitment to honesty and integrity of self and a rare unity of behaviour, thought, and actions.
The literal meaning of the term Manimanik in Assamese is gems and jewels. Our subject have adorned a rebellious journey with jewels of positivity and hope.

Synopsis:Paandhrya, whose caste belongs to the nomadic tribes, is from the family earning their living by performing acrobatic feats for their survival. Stealing and begging for food are their regular traits. He attends school in spite of the wrath of her reluctant mother who already has fed up with her drunken husband and worries of daily survival of her little kids. In his school, introvert Paandhrya gets moved by watching a film showing the mother’s love and culture. With this new found consciousness he starves for the true love of mother and on the other side he carries an inferior complex in his mind came out of the white scar on his lips which also gave the pet name called ‘Paandhrya’. One thing of him has become the reason of trouble for not only to his family but for the whole caste. He determined to go to school! For this crime he has to stumble upon his mother, the tribe and the whole society to exist. The moral and social suppression tests his determination. He is cornered by everyone. Doesn’t see any hope. Finally he chooses a path to come out of. He rebels!

The story is about the power of hope and optimism; one of the biggest assets of human life. It also portray the strong bond between husband and wife which remains unscathed even in the most adverse situation.

In 2010, Christoph von Toggenburg cycled alone 3200km along the world’s highest tracks pulling a 30kg trailer packed with survival gear in support of leprosy patients and mentally destitute women in India,
With little air to breathe and temperatures between minus15 to plus 45 degrees Celcius he crossed mountain passes higher than 5500m mastering a total of 50’000m.
Crossing Nepal during the Maoist unrests, conflict stricken Kashmir, he encountered wonderful hospitality, found new friends, and saw some of the world’s most spectacular landscapes of this planet.
He became film-maker, actor, fund- and awareness-raiser in one person filming and editing this touching adventure entirely by himself making this a zero-budget production.

Synopsis: Frank becomes backslide and squanders the money for a planned joint dinner with his son David. David is desperate and does not know how he can put his father off from addiction. He works in a cafe and save’s up money for his big dream, a trip to India. But as long as his father is addicted to gambling he does not want to leave him alone. The situation between Frank and David escalates and Frank tries again to stop gambling. He searches for a Job and attends a self- help group. David now sees finally his chance to realize his dream for a trip to India. But unfortunately his father can not resist the pressure of unemployment and gambling addiction. For a new game, he steals money from his own son. With this behave he does not only risk the relation to David, but also he destroys the big dream of his son.

Synopsis: Bindu, a naive immigrant woman in Bhopal, India makes mobile videos of herself talking about everyday incidents and sends it to her husband Mohan – a soldier, away on duty protecting the nation’s borders. She’s a survivor of the horrific 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy and as a consequence suffers from chronic chest pains. The after effects of that tragedy are so far reaching that their 4 year old child, Goku, born decades after the accident, has regular health problems due to it. Despite their poverty, physical ailments and daily challenges of life, she maintains a positive outlook and tries to project a happy image.
But her joyous facade will collapse soon in the face of a greater tragedy that awaits them…
