Kandh De Paar (Beyond The Wall) is a period short film set in the midst of the 1984 Sikh genocide that shook the Sikh community in India post Indira Gandhi’s assassination by her Sikh bodyguards. Bhupinder ( a court martialled sikh Major), his wife Renu and their two sons, Bhawsheel ( a young journalist) and Maninder find themselves caught in chaos and grapple with personal issues muddled in the mud of ideological differences and hatred for the state who seems to sponsor the horror unleashed on the sikh community. As their ordinary life is jeopardized, the family becomes a reflection of a society trying to make sense of its circumstances.

The film is a response to the chaos caused and the consequences hence, and aims at understanding the non-fictional world with a fictional take. Will Bhawsheel, a liberal lift the holy dagger to defend his family or will his survival instinct only fend for himself?
